Intermediate Terrestrial & Aquatic Biologist

Western Canada | Full-time | Remote + Field

The Opportunity

Cornice is growing and we're looking for an experienced biologist who can contribute confidently across field programs, technical work, and project delivery.

This position is a dynamic role including field and desktop skillset. Our work changes by project and season, and we're looking for someone who is comfortable delivering on field assessments, construction environmental monitoring, technical reporting, regulatory support, and coordination with project teams, while willing to contribute to a growing team.

You'll work independently when appropriate and alongside Cornice's professionals, clients, contractors, Indigenous communities, and other consulting teams.

What You'll Do

Your work may include:

  • Leading and supporting terrestrial and aquatic habitat assessments

  • Conducting fisheries, wildlife, vegetation, water quality, and habitat field programs

  • Providing construction environmental monitoring and practical mitigation guidance

  • Supporting environmental permitting and regulatory compliance

  • Interpreting field data and preparing clear, defensible technical documentation

  • Supporting habitat restoration and enhancement projects

  • Working directly with clients, contractors, regulators, Indigenous communities, and multidisciplinary project teams

  • Managing defined scopes or projects, including schedule, budget, and deliverables

What We’re Looking For

We're less interested in titles than in demonstrated capability. We're looking for someone with enough experience to exercise sound technical judgment, take ownership of their work, recognize when a task requires escalation, and contribute effectively within experienced project teams.

  • Degree in biology, environmental science, ecology, or a related discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant environmental consulting or project experience, primarily in British Columbia and/or Alberta

  • Professional designation or eligibility for registration as an R.P.Bio in British Columbia and/or P.Biol. in Alberta

  • Strong field capability across terrestrial and/or aquatic systems

  • Experience with environmental monitoring and regulatory requirements in BC

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing project demands

  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within BC for field assignments
